AfriForum Youth supports removal of Wits SRC President after racist statements

AfriForum Youth supports the South African Union of Jewish Students in their demand to have the President of the SRC at Wits University, Mcebo Dlamini removed, following his racist statements on social media and other news platforms.

Dlamini expressed his hate of white people on eNCA and stood firmly by his view, “that every white person has an element of Hitler”. According to Dlamini all white people are filled with hate and racism and have blood on their hands.

“We are glad that Prof Adam Habib, Vice Chancellor at Wits, has launched a probe to check whether disciplinary action can be instituted against Dlamini. Double standards are at the order of the day at several large universities, where only racism against black students is condemned,” says Monique du Randt, Spokesperson of AfriForum Youth.

The Jewish community is also upset about Dlamini’s utterance that he is a fan of Hitler, apparently based on the German leader’s “charisma” and “organisational skills”. In spite of the demand by the student union, Dlamini shows no sign of remorse.  “It is important that racism in tertiary institutions is dealt with on an equally strict basis. Racist utterances by student leaders provoke racism among students and the broader community. AfriForum Youth regards this as a direct racist attack which is politically aimed to ignite racial hatred. It should be dealt with with the greatest gravity,” says Du Randt.

AfriForum last month submitted criminal charges against six individuals who instigated people through social media to commit farm murders, to murder white people or who alleged that they intended to do it themselves.
