AfriForum Youth demands an apology from Pres Jacob Zuma
AfriForum Youth held a protest action at the Union Buildings in Pretoria today as part of their #dankieJan Campaign. The campaign kicked off in Cape Town last week when a letter of demand was handed over to the Department of Arts and Culture. AfriForum Youth is of the opinion that Pres Jacob Zuma must be held accountable for his irresponsible statements that the problems in the country started with the arrival of Jan van Riebeeck.
“We feel that the President is responsible for statues being damaged, wrecked and destroyed across the country. He must retract his statements and demonstrate leadership by calming the situation and he must set an example regarding the protection of the heritage of all South Africans. We expect him to apologise and retract his statements,” said Henk Maree, National Chairman of AfriForum Youth.
The posters were put up on the fences surrounding the lawns of the Union Buildings. AfriForum Youth will continue to run campaigns that protect and preserve the heritage of the Afrikaner.
