Health professions council holds up careers

AfriForum Youth is aware that many medical graduate careers are being held up because the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) fails to issue them with registration certificates and/or practitioner’s numbers, without which they cannot practice their medical professions.

AfriForum Youth ascertained through a formal application in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 that the HPCSA finalises only 40% of applications for registration certificates and only 60% of applications for practitioner’s numbers within three months.

AfriForum Youth views this hold-up in a very serious light and wants to compel the Council to immediately process all outstanding applications.

If you are a medical practitioner who has been waiting for longer than three months for your practitioner’s number and/or certificate, we kindly request you to complete the details below to allow AfriForum Youth to bring a mandamus application on your behalf in order to compel the Council to process your application.

Your information will be treated confidentially and will not be shared with any third parties.
