AfriForum Youth files complaints against Pierre de Vos after his child pornography scandal on social media

AfriForum Youth today filed criminal complaints against Pierre de Vos with the South African Police Service (SAPS) after child pornography was posted on his Twitter profile.

In the post that appeared on De Vos’s profile on 11 September, a young boy could be seen being sexually abused by an adult man. The complaint that the youth organisation filed today is in accordance with section 19A(4) of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offenses and Related Matters) Amendment Act (32 of 2007), as well as the provision against the distribution of child pornography in the Film and Publication Act (65 of 1996, as amended).

“We trust that the SAPS will investigate the complaint thoroughly, as it is unacceptable that a prominent figure could possibly be guilty of such atrocities without a thorough investigation. Child pornography contributes to the child trafficking industry which is a growing problem in South Africa. We, therefore, cannot ignore this incident,” says René van der Vyver, spokesperson for AfriForum Youth.
