AfriForum Youth branch tackles road safety at Laerskool David Brink

When it comes to road safety, the safety of pedestrians is one of the greatest challenges facing the country. Of the approximately 12 000 fatalities recorded on the country’s roads in 2025, around 45% were pedestrians. Furthermore, data shows that children are particularly vulnerable. It is precisely for this reason that the Rustenburg branch of AfriForum Youth, in collaboration with AfriForum’s Rustenburg neighbourhood team, recently undertook the refurbishment of a speed bump and road markings at Laerskool David Brink.

Jaun Ferreira, Chairperson of this AfriForum Youth branch, believes that this refurbishment project – during which the speed bump and parking markers were repainted – will make a significant contribution to the safety of learners and motorists.

“Children are our country’s future, and their safety must always be a priority,” he explains. “By maintaining the roads around schools, we promote the safety of our community’s youngest members.”
