“Kill the Boer, Kill the Racist, Kill Afrikaans!”, states pamphlet at Puk Campus
AfriForum Youth strongly condemns the pamphlet containing racist slogans that was distributed in bathrooms on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North West University (NWU). The pamphlet, which has an African liberation emblem similar to the one of Sasco, states the following: “Kill the Boer, Kill the Racist, Kill Afrikaans.”
“We demand that the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) immediately include this in their hearing and that a full probe be launched. It’s clear that there are extremist students who don’t want to live with mutual recognition and respect with minorities,” says Henk Maree, National Chair of AfriForum Youth.
“This pamphlet contains clear hate speech against Afrikaners and Afrikaans speaking students, and it incites people to commit racial murders,” Maree says.
AfriForum Youth has sent a letter to the NWU and the SAHRC in which they request an urgent probe to confirm who the individual and organisation is who distributed the hate pamphlets.
The SAHRC last week held a hearing regarding transformation at universities. The Puk Campus of the NWU was targeted by the Commission as the Campus is allegedly “too white”.
“The SAHRC should rather focus on such blatant hate speech and start realising that Afrikaners are also victims of racism,” Maree concluded.
