AfriForum Youth welcomes the Young Republicans of Texas’ resolution on the Afrikaner community in South Africa, which was adopted at their recent annual convention. The resolution acknowledges that Afrikaners are the target of various forms of discrimination by the ANC-led government and calls on Republicans in Texas to take a strong stand against this and to pursue friendly cooperation with Afrikaners.

The full resolution consists of five broad observations on the position of Afrikaners in South Africa and the recent decisions of the US government affecting Afrikaners, and then goes on to call on like-minded people in America to build and maintain a valuable relationship with the Afrikaner community in South Africa.

According to Louis Boshoff, spokesperson for AfriForum Youth, it is gratifying to see that there are young Americans who have an accurate impression of the challenges that Afrikaners experience and are prepared to take a stand against it. “Despite denial by the South African government and various distorted images in the media, the Young Republicans of Texas have a sober and balanced view of the discrimination that Afrikaners face. AfriForum Youth will also strive for a friendly relationship with the Young Republicans of Texas.”

Boshoff adds that there are already personal friendships between some members of AfriForum Youth and members of the Young Republicans of Texas.

The Young Republicans of Texas also have a great influence on the Texas legislature and on the Republican party.
