NWU injury an isolated incident

AfriForum Youth takes note of an incident on the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU in which a senior official was allegedly hurt in a scuffle with a group of first year students. AfriForum Youth is adamant that this should be seen as an isolated event and that the incident should not be blown out of proportion.

“The student council of the NWU-Puk is running a hugely successful first year programme and the feedback on it is enormously positive. If a small group of students are guilty of any kind of transgression, steps should be taken against them. But the rest of the students on campus shouldn’t be punished for their actions,” says Henk Maree, national chairperson of AfriForum Youth.

AfriForum Youth do not condone any form of violence or human rights violations. The youth organisation supports the investigation by the university into the incident.
