AfriForum Youth\u2019s Kempton Park branch gave back to the community on 27 April by planting a vegetable garden at the M\u00f4rester Child and Youth Care Centre in Birchleigh. This action took place in celebration of International Mother Earth Day which was celebrated on 22 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This follows after the centre experienced a shortage of fresh vegetables. The AfriForum Youth branch therefore decided to plant a vegetable garden with the help of ten branch members and seven students. These students spent the day at the centre getting the garden ready. Some of the vegetables planted include spinach, onions, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, spring onions, tomatoes, and beans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students involved walked away with quite a few tips on how to plant and maintain a successful vegetable garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe children are determined to water and take care of the garden every day and we are excited to see how the garden will grow! AfriForum Youth\u2019s Kempton Park branch will visit from time to time to ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the vegetable garden,\u201d says Veruska Brits, chairperson of the Kempton Park branch. \u201cOne can forget that such a simple sustainable solution can make a big difference. I am grateful to be part of such a project and team of people,\u201d concludes Brits.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
