AfriForum Youth Tuks visited the Jacaranda Children\u2019s Home in East Lynne, Pretoria to spread Easter cheer to the Home\u2019s 250 children. This youth branch distributed 25 boxes of Easter eggs, clothing and toys.<\/p>\n

The Jacaranda Children\u2019s Home no longer receives financial support from Government or large private companies, as 70 % of their children are white. It has a direct influence on the Home\u2019s monthly operating costs. Every house on the premises is home to about 13 children, ranging between 18 months and 18 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the Home\u2019s website, it costs about R218 per day to tend to a child\u2019s needs. We wanted to make a difference, even if it was only for a day. We didn\u2019t only want to drop off a donation, so we had fun with the kids for the entire day. The students of AfriForum Youth Tuks held an Easter egg hunt for them, and all of us had great fun,\u201d Rochelle Oosthuyse, chair of AfriForum Youth Tuks, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

AfriForum Youth encourages other students to get involved in community projects, especially at children\u2019s homes. \u201cThe only thing some house parents ask for is someone who can keep an eye over the children when it\u2019s time for home work.\u00a0 One is maybe only giving a little bit of one\u2019s time, but the impact one has on children\u2019s lives is invaluable.\u201d<\/p>\n
