When it comes to road safety, the safety of pedestrians is one of the greatest challenges facing the country. Of the approximately 12 000 fatalities recorded on the country\u2019s roads in 2025, around 45% were pedestrians. Furthermore, data shows that children are particularly vulnerable. It is precisely for this reason that the Rustenburg branch of AfriForum Youth, in collaboration with AfriForum\u2019s Rustenburg neighbourhood team, recently undertook the refurbishment of a speed bump and road markings at Laerskool David Brink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaun Ferreira, Chairperson of this AfriForum Youth branch, believes that this refurbishment project \u2013 during which the speed bump and parking markers were repainted \u2013 will make a significant contribution to the safety of learners and motorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChildren are our country\u2019s future, and their safety must always be a priority,\u201d he explains. \u201cBy maintaining the roads around schools, we promote the safety of our community\u2019s youngest members.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
