Eight AfriForum Youth SRC candidates today filed an appeal against a decision of the student court of the University of Stellenbosch (US). The order directed that no student council elections may take place at the US until the university provided AfriForum’s candidates with reasons for their disqualification from the student council elections and until they had an opportunity to appeal against it.
The Western Cape High Court just instructed that no student council election will be held at the University of Stellenbosch (US) before the University’s student court provides AfriForum’s candidates with reasons for their disqualification from the student council election and they are afforded the opportunity to appeal against it.
AfriForum Youth will bring an urgent application before the High Court in Cape Town tomorrow to compel the University of Stellenbosch (US) to reinstate the candidature of eight candidates for the Student Representative Council (SRC).
