AfriForum Youth today introduced a National Prevention Plan for campuses across South Africa. This, following the violence that prevailed at the Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosch last week, as well as threats of similar acts of violence on other campuses in the country.
AfriForum Youth herewith officially declares a dispute with the Department of
Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, after Afrikaans as language of education has been
abolished at the Grootfontein Agricultural College in Middelburg in the Eastern Cape.
AfriForum Youth demands a probe, action as well as the implementation of a plan from the Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande as well as the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to ensure the safety of students at Medunsa. These demands come after the youth organisation received numerous complaints from Medunsa students.
AfriForum Youth today instructed its legal team to send a letter to the Council of the North-West University, requesting the Council to reject the Wessels Report in its current format and to refuse to submit the report to the Minister of Higher Education.
