AfriForum Youth makes 10 000 litre difference and launches Bursary Fund Competition

AfriForum Youth will be distributing 1 000 ten litre green buckets to less fortunate youths across the country today and tomorrow. Each bucket has been filled to the brim with stationery, non-perishable foods and toiletries. The Louis Botha Children’s Home in Pretoria received their donation from the Youth Organisation this afternoon.

This handing-over comes after AfriForum Youth launched the project last year, and handed over 130 green buckets to the Louis Botha Children’s Home. This year, the Youth Organisation will make a difference at 5 children’s homes and youth care centres across South Africa.

The children’s homes and youth care centres include:

  • Louis Botha Children’s Home, Pretoria, Gauteng
  • Jacaranda Children’s Home, Pretoria, Gauteng
  • Abraham Kriel Children’s Home, Potchefstroom, North West
  • Emmanuel Youth Care Centre, Middelburg, Eastern Cape
  • President Paul Kruger Youth Care Centre, Reddersburg, Free State

“Applications also opened for our Bursary Fund Study Opportunity. Two Grade 12 learners from children’s homes will get the opportunity to further their studies through our Bursary Fund,” Henk Maree, National Chairman of AfriForum Youth said.

The Green Bucket Initiative was launched by AfriForum Youth after it became known that some children’s homes do not get sufficient financial support due to subsidy policies. Even businesses that support children’s homes do not get full BEE points, if the children’s home they support does not house at least 75 % black children.
